Wake up. Drink up. Get your sweat on!
Fall is a gorgeous time of year. Who doesn’t love cozy sweaters, boots and all the fall spices. Even though we all go apple, pumpkin, and flannel crazy this time of year, we all know what’s coming: the darkness. As the days get colder and darker, it’s easy to feel a little blah. That’s exactly why we need to band together and lift each other up. Let’s get ahead of the funk with a fall challenge.
I wanted to make sure this challenge was multi-faceted. While we will all be focusing on similar actions, the “why” you’re doing it can be completely customized to your own personal goals.
Part 1 of the challenge: Hydrate
Water is a simple, easy, and an almost free resource that offers so many benefits. It’s good for your dental health. It’s aids in digestion. It helps stabilize your appetite. It acts as a natural decongestant. It prevents dehydration. The list of benefits is endless. The amount of water that is ideal for each person can vary, but according WebMD, the ideal amount would be between 1/2 and ounce to 1 full ounce for every pound that you way. The amount that you sweat and move and your level of thirst will determine what’s best for you. I’m always thirsty and I move a lot, so I’m going to aim high. For the sake of uniformity, we will set the challenge at 128 ounces (1 gallon) of water per day, but you can certainly set your own goal and customize it based on the information provided in this paragraph.
Part 2 of the challenge: Heart Rate
Getting your heart rate up on a consistent basis is vital for your cardiovascular health. It also improves your mood, increases your energy, stabilizes your appetite, improves circulation, manages a healthy body weight when combined with proper nutrition, improves your lunge function, and again, the list goes on and on.
For this challenge, we’ll be adding at least 20 minutes of cardio to our daily routine a minimum of 4 days per week. You can do more if you already do cardio regularly. I’ll be sharing ideas and circuits with you that will make this fun and effective.
I’ll try to offer as many methods as possible to make this challenge manageable for all! Your encouragement to others in the challenge will make the whole process positive and uplifting. I can’t wait to connect with all of you. This is going to be a great way to ease into the holiday season with reduced stress and healthier bodies!!
